Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Tutorfy ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. The Service is intended for users in the United States and is not directed at children under 13 without parental consent.
2. Eligibility
Students under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian set up and manage their account. Tutors must be at least 18, complete our application, and comply with applicable background-check and tax requirements in their jurisdiction.
3. The marketplace
Tutorfy is a marketplace that connects students and parents with independent tutors. Tutors are not employees, agents, or partners of Tutorfy. We do not control, endorse, or guarantee the quality of any tutoring session, and we are not responsible for the conduct of any user.
4. Bookings, payments & refunds
Payments are processed through Stripe. Tutorfy collects a platform fee disclosed at checkout. Cancellations made at least 24 hours before a session are fully refundable. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged in full at the tutor's discretion. Disputes can be opened from your dashboard within 7 days of a session.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to (a) harass, threaten, or discriminate against any user; (b) share inappropriate content with minors; (c) circumvent the platform to avoid fees; (d) misrepresent your identity, credentials, or qualifications; or (e) use the Service for anything illegal. Violations may result in immediate account suspension.
6. Content & intellectual property
You retain ownership of content you upload (lesson notes, modules, messages). By posting content, you grant Tutorfy a non-exclusive license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the Service. The Tutorfy name, logo, and software are owned by us.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Tutorfy does not guarantee any specific learning outcome or that tutors will always be available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tutorfy's total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or harm other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (payment obligations, IP, disclaimers, limits of liability) will survive.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
